Ice everywhere

In the town where I live there is snow and ice everywhere! I like snow, but it is annoying when you can not go anywhere without being extremely careful where you put your feet, because otherwise you will find your self laying on your back in the snow immediately. When I went to school in the morning, I did not only feel the snow under my feet, but even did hear the sound of the ice crashing under my shoes. And that is the dangerous thing: the snow falls so fast, that it lays down on the frozen snow, that turns into ice. You think that you can go safe there the snow is laying but in reality you can not see where it is safe to go, because the ice is hiding under the layer of snow.

I do not hazard to take the bicycle to school in this weather and you can not imagine how irritating it is that all of the buses are late all the time. Although I know that it is not there fault and I think it is better that they drive safe and come late than that they drive in normal speed and crash, it is really unpleasant to stand in the cold and wait. But at least the buses do come eventually.

Went to school

When I went to school yesterday, like almost every morning I was taking my bicycle, it was snowing. But the snowflakes were so little that it was hard to see them. If there had not been snow on the road and fields you maybe would not have noticed that it snowed at all. It seemed like it snowed one snowflake per minute or something, and you had to try really hard to see them, especially because I was bicycling. Only when one of the rare flakes touched my face I really could feel that it was snowing. I love the smell of snow, although some people say that snow does not smell. But in my opinion you can smell snow.

On one of the fields there was a lot of water the other day, and because it was so cold yesterday night it froze, so that you technically could ice skate on it. I did not try it, but I am sure that it would work. I love ice skating, so maybe that is the reason why I thought in that way immediately. Or maybe it is just because it was so perfect for ice skating. My friend that takes the bicycle the same way I do, told me when I asked her that she did not even see the field with the ice on it. One reason could be that she is bicycling two times faster than I do. I like to take it really slow when I bicycle in the morning, because you experience everything different. You see the kittens from one farm on the way, playing in  the ditch and the bird of prey in the sky.

The wonders of nature amaze me every day.

Happy feet

Have you ever watched the movie Happy feet?

Well if you don’t than you can surely find a description of the film on the Internet. Theoretically it is a film for children, and I think many people think that the statement of the film is to tell children ( and their parents, too) that it is okay to be different from the others and that no one ever should bring you down because of who you are.

But I am really sure there is a second statement placed in the film, that is for us, who have grown out of childhood. The penguins in the film are near to starve because someone or something steels there fish. They have no explanation for that, they are after all, only penguins. But the fact is that humans, we, steel there fish and would make them starve to death, if Mumble, the main character in the film would not rescue them, and make the humans stop fishing. But in real life there are no penguins, who tell us to stop fishing, because they will starve. In real life we often do not think about where our food comes from before we put it in our mouths. In real life we destroy our world by for example fishing the fish that animals like  penguins or dolphins need to survive. Many people may think that they do not care if the dolphins or the penguins do die. But in the end, it affects every single person on this planet. Between three and 130 species die out for ever EVERY DAY! Can you imagine that? I mean you can say: What do I care if some species of frogs die out in the rain forest? But these frogs were more than just frogs. They were a part of the circle of life and if we keep on pulling things out of this circle, one day it is going to crush down. And that day, we will all wish that we would have taken better care of our world.
